An exciting position has become available in the applied sciences team for a new Simulation and Modelling Engineer. This position will report to the Lead Simulation and Modelling Engineer, and will work on exciting customer projects.

We are looking for pragmatic engineers with the appropriate mathematical, modelling and vehicle dynamics skills along with the ability to write quality code towards the development of our simulations in the desired environments.

Key accountabilities / duties include:

  • Develop and maintain physics models, sub-models and simulations to continuously meet the requirements of customer toolsets.

  • Ensure on-going validation and correlation of models to track and rig data to ensure robust validity of simulation results.

  • Research and use appropriate technologies to ensure the continuous development of our models and simulation tools to meet the engineering requirements of our customers.

Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Software Engineer experienced in creating web-based tools to join the software development group in our Aerodynamics Department.

Working collaboratively as part of a small team of software engineers, you will help to streamline our software projects and processes, delivering and developing tools that are used by our engineers to steer processes and visualise the input and output from our computational analysis tools.

Key responsibilities:

  • Create and maintain web-based software applications used in aerodynamic development (eg data visualisation and the processes that wrap around our Computational Fluid Dynamics tools)
  • Contribute to project specifications and objectives, ensuring these are well understood prior to code design
  • Design code that is robust, easily maintainable, extensible and reusable, using industry-standard methodology, for example devOps protocols such as CI/CD and agile
  • Liaise with IT to ensure the best implementation of new software in terms of hardware and other service requirements

Candidate profile:

Key Accountabilities (Duties)

  • Collaborate with other developers to enhance a Meteor/React.js based platform and create new applications

    • Mechanical, composite, automotive or aeronautical engineering degree (2:1 minimum grade) or similar qualification.

    • Substantial and recent high level structural composite design experience in F1, another top level motorsport category or an equivalent high level engineering industry.

    • Excellent knowledge of composite components, composite science, tooling systems, materials and industry production techniques.

    • Understanding and use of finite element analysis tools and hand calculation methodologies to produce reliable and optimised designs, analysing and questioning results as appropriate.

    • High level mechanical motorsport design experience with understanding of materials and relevant systems.

    • High level of commitment and self-responsibility with ability and confidence to work independently whilst showing a tenacious approach to leading projects with strict deadlines.

    • Ability to effectively and confidently communicate at all levels.

    • Collaborative approach with ability to engage others at all levels to achieve integrated results achieving best overall compromise.

    • Experience of Catia V5/3DX and Catia/Abaqus FE would be an advantage.

    Job Description

    A fantastic opportunity has become available in our Composite Design Group for a Composite Design Engineer working on a six-month Fixed Term Contract. 

    Reporting to a Lead Composite Designer, the successful candidate will work on a variety of carbon composite car parts for our F1 racing car. You must be comfortable challenging yourself and others with respect and passion to drive our projects forward whilst striving to achieve the best possible results. You will exhibit an in-depth understanding of composites design and their applications with a solid first principles understanding.

    Key responsibilities/Duties

    • Design and management of assigned composite race car parts designs throughout component life cycle
    • Generating 3D CAD models, assemblies and 2D drawings.
    • Understand and drive cost effective design solutions
    • Definition and documentation of manufacturing information (including ply book generation)
    • Generating 3D models, Assemblies and 2D drawings.
    • Close collaboration with other engineering departments and external suppliers to ensure fully integrated system designs, achieving optimal car performance.

    Candidate Profile

    • Composite, mechanical, automotive or aeronautical or science engineering degree (2:1 minimum grade) or similar qualification.
    • Having multiple years’ experience in F1, another top-level motorsport category or an equivalent high-level engineering industry is essential.
    • Experience of Catia V5/3DX composite and surfacing design package would be beneficial.
    • Excellent communication and collaborative skills to ensure cross departmental integration.
    • High attention to detail and the ability to work under limited supervision to tight deadlines.
