An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Performance and Simulation Engineer within the Vehicle Dynamics Group at Mercedes-Benz Grand Prix, contributing to the continuous car performance development programme by finding the optimum trade-off among several interrelated areas.
To develop the lap simulation models for vehicle performance analysis and development.
To improve and develop new methodologies of vehicle performance analysis tools for objective technical decision making.
To identify and develop solutions that address performance limitations / weaknesses of the current car and deliver lap time improvements.
To propose and develop new performance concepts that deliver performance differentiation from our competitors.
To contribute to the continuous development of the simulation and modelling tools to improve the team’s ability to identify and develop vehicle performance.
To contribute to the validation and correlation of the vehicle and sub-system models to ensure validity of simulation results.
Strong academic background with a Mechanical, Aeronautical, Engineering Degree (2:1 minimum grade) or equivalent.
Experience with simulation and modelling tasks in vehicle dynamics or in an equivalent high-level engineering industry.
Appreciation of optimisation problems, vehicle dynamics, aerodynamics and thermodynamics theory.
Experience using Matlab and Dymola.
Ability to work in interdisciplinary teams to tight deadlines and under minimal supervision.
Highly motivated and focused self-starter with excellent communication skills.
