An exciting position has become available for a highly skilled, creative and self-motivated engineer to join the Structural Analysis Department.
This role would be ideally suited to ambitious engineer at an early stage of their career and looking to build experience on their journey to senior engineer and beyond.
The role will require an inherent aptitude in developing innovative solutions and in actively supporting future design ideas. With a strong technical background in mechanical systems and structural analysis fields, the candidate will need to demonstrate their ability to work pro-actively and in a respectful manner within a group of highly skilled engineers. In addition of being passionate about motorsport and technology, the candidate will have to possess a natural aptitude to lead projects, to push technical boundaries and to work outside of their comfort zone.
Reporting to Lead Structural Analysis Engineer, your responsibilities will include
The structural analysis of highly complex car and test rig components and assemblies to the required standards making use of both finite element and hand calculations.
Close collaboration and teamwork with other engineering departments to achieve car performance and reliability goals and objectives.
Manage the structural specification and testing requirements for all parts and assemblies.
Maintaining accurate documentation through the design process in the form of reports including FE results and supporting calculations.
Supporting the components and assemblies assigned to you through the various stages of life, from inception and design through lab testing and in-service life.
Support engineering activities outside of motorsport as part of our Applied Science programmes.
An engineering degree (2:1 minimum grade) or similar qualification with a good level of experience in a high-performance engineering industry.
The essential thorough understanding of finite element and hand calculation methods.
A core knowledge in fatigue, non-linear material behaviour and contact analysis.
A good experience in FEA packages Hyperworks and Abaqus.
Knowledge in composite materials and FE modelling would be an advantage.
The essential communicative and collaborative skills needed to thrive in our exceptional environment.
An ability to communicate clearly, concisely, and confidently with all members of the organisation.
Experience of 3DX design is of benefit as well as proficiency in Excel.
