Before an F1 car arrives at the track it has already completed thousands of virtual laps on the dyno. Simulating the extreme conditions of racing, every component driven at the limit. Before a racing driver fastens their belts they have already spent hours in motion. Immersed in a meticulous simulation of car and circuit. Every aspect of car and driver performance probed and analysed. Behind the scenes are incredible machines built by talented engineers. Could one of them be you?
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Control Systems Engineer to join the Performance Department at Mercedes-Benz Grand Prix.
Working in the capability team at our the state-of-the-art facility in the UK you will:
Contribute to every aspect of real-time controls development for our SIL, HIL, dyno, and motion simulator systems
Collaborate within the organisation to identify new capability requirements for developing car performance
Help the operational teams by providing great tools, documentation, diagnostics, and hands-on support
Deliver robust, reliable systems using best practices in software development, automation, and testing
This position is a great fit for someone who:
Has more than 2 years experience working with real-time controls on complex machines
Understands all aspects of the development cycle from concept to commissioning
Takes a data driven approach to diagnosing and resolving tough technical problems
Is passionate about, and skilled in, developing control systems using model based design
Enjoys programming and software development
We develop using MATLAB, Simulink, Visual Studio, and Azure DevOps. Our hardware includes vendors like McLaren, dSPACE, Beckhoff, AVL, and MTS. Experience in any of these would be beneficial. A prior interest in motorsport is not necessary.
