Job Description

The Event Lead for the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team will create and oversee the Team’s internal and external event portfolio. With the growth of our team, alongside our commercial success, expanding stakeholders and partnerships, we have a requirement to expand our current event portfolio. The Event Lead will be responsible for the concept, planning and delivery of our first-class events and experiences, outside of a traditional race weekend, at our headquarters and internationally.

Key Responsibilities:

The Team’s portfolio of events is vast, ranging from small intimate driving experiences for C-suite guests to large-scale team events for up to 4000 people.

Key responsibilities would include.

  • Develop events strategy, dovetailing with the overall team business, Marketing and Communications strategy and ambitions, successfully translating the proposition into a workable event plan.

  • Internal and external ideas and conception.

Events can include but are not limited to.

  • External events including our Thought Leadership series and bespoke CEO/Partner events.

  • Internal events including team Christmas and summer parties, trackside familiarisation days, team celebrations, activities, and seminars.

  • Headquarter-based hospitality and events for internal and external customers.

  • Work with various stakeholders in the business to identify external event needs and create events calendar,

  • Work with Management Committee, Internal Communications, Human Resources and our powertrain division HPP to identify event needs and create events calendar.

  • Work to ensure internal and external events work in harmony utilising event spaces and events team resource.

  • Responsibility for the organisation and delivery of all internal and external events for the team.

  • Event planning including but not limited to, project administration, venue research and choice, recce, and SWOT analysis.

  • Guest profiling and correspondence.

  • Supplier selection, liaison pre-event and on-site for logistics, F&B, and gifting.

  • Management of health & safety requirements and legal compliance.

  • Scheduling: Management and coordination of on-events team and create event flow together with stakeholders to ensure it meets objectives.

  • Gatekeeper to ensure all events are delivered to the team brand and hospitality standards.

  • Management and development of the event team.

  • Management of the event budget and responsibility to deliver on target.

  • Work with Marketing Operations team to deliver key highlight races which incorporate events such as Miami and Vegas Grand Prix.

  • Continually monitor and measure the success of events, looking for ways to continually improve and innovate.

  • Monitor competitor and industry trends to report on future opportunities and venues to host events.

Candidate Profile:

The successful candidate will have extensive experience and proven competence of working in the event industry and be able to demonstrate relevant business and events related skills and qualifications.

The preferred candidate will have significant experience of working with C-suite level stakeholders and experience within the luxury events sector would be advantageous. It is not a requirement to have worked in the sports industry.

You will thrive on working in a fast-paced, busy team, possess excellent communication skills and have high levels of drive to be able to make decisions and lead within a pressurised environment. You will have first-class organisational and time management skills and an acute attention to detail.

The candidate will bring personality and warmth to the role and be highly motivated to deliver exceptional events and guest experiences.

Flexibility in hours and approach is required, along with the ability to work under minimum supervision with a "can do" team attitude. The role will be hybrid working with travel to events as required.
