The Team has set a new benchmark for Formula One success during the sport’s current Hybrid era, winning consecutive Drivers’ and Constructors’ World Championships in 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020, and the Constructors’ Championship in 2021.
The Technology Engineering Project Engineer is required to manage the planning, execution and introduction of Technology Engineering projects across the areas that Technology Engineering support including Aero, Dyno and VDG. Ensuring that deliverables of scope, timeline and cost are fulfilled.
The role includes onboarding and ongoing management of Wind Tunnel 1 (WT1) customers and support of the existing F1 customer in WT2.
Key Responsibilities include:
Technology Engineering Projects
Working primarily as part of the Technology Engineering function, the position holder is responsible for day-to-day project management of Technology Engineering projects providing clear priorities and project targets, whilst keeping control of project budgets. Including but not limited to:
Project progress meetings
Project cost control
Technology Engineering projects are capability enhancement projects for areas across the company including Wind Tunnel, Aero Experimental, Aero Performance Group, Dyno, Simulator and VDG.
Responsible for maintaining critical spares inventory for all Technology Engineering-owned systems (model electronics, balances and other instrumentation)
Initial technical point of contact for prospective WT1 Customers.
Establish scope of customer programmes and prepare technical proposals ensuring compatibility between customer requirements and facility capabilities.
Liaise with Mercedes-Benz Grand Prix Legal and Finance to prepare WT1 customer contracts and NDAs.
Arrange customer liaison meetings ahead of initial testing and session previews and reviews during customer test campaigns.
Maintain WT1 customer documentation including preparation of geometry files and tunnel configuration.
Set up secure areas for safe transfer of customer and WT1 information.
Maintain cost model for preparation of customer quotations for goods and services.
Liaison within Technology Engineering and Experimental Aero to establish annual DEV Code and CAPEX requirements.
Preparation of DEV and CAPEX and justifications and submission thereof
Management and control of DEV and Capex budgets including liaison with project sponsors and finance business partners.
Provide a procurement service for the Technology Engineering, Aero and Experimental Aero groups.

Takes the initiative and doesn’t need to be told to go and find opportunities and test new ideas.
An excellent understanding and working knowledge of F1 test and simulation facilities.
Technical understanding of the wind tunnel models and associated instrumentation
A strong financial awareness with a working knowledge of company financial and procurement processes and an understanding of cost cap constraints
Have excellent customer facing skills
High levels of drive, be assertive and able to make decisions within a pressurised environment.
Advantageous (but not essential) Experience
Microsoft Project, SAP Procurement and Reporting, WT1 experience, model build experience, subcontractor management, chairing project and progress meetings
