Engine Systems Technician (6 Months FTC) (Ref REQ-004)

Job Description

A vacancy has arisen for a Build Systems Technician reporting to the Engine Systems Team Leader.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring all Engine Systems assemblies are prepared to the highest standards by utilising all the correct quality build procedures.

Key Accountabilities / Duties include:

  • Working with the Engine Systems Team Leaders, ensure all build procedures and workshop standards are adhered to. Support any rig testing required on completed assemblies prior to the components being issued to the cars.
  • Assist with the running of the workshop and working with the Race Team Engine Dressers on a day to day basis when at the factory.
  • Actively work on all aspects of engine dressing and the fuel system including the sub assembly of all the engine and ERS cooling systems.
  • Working with the engine dressers ensure that correct stock levels of non lifed parts are taken to each event.
  • Working with the Engine System Team Leader ensure that the correct lifed parts, at the correct issue level, are taken to each event.
  • Working with the Engine System Team Leader ensure that the correct servicing procedures are carried out and that SAP Service Orders are updated correctly.
  • Drive continuous improvement in the Engine Systems area to provide improvements in Health & Safety, Quality, delivery adherence, productivity and cost reduction.
  • Assist in maintaining an updated SAP based stock list for the Engine Systems area.
  • Create and maintain Engine System build procedures, check lists and drawing books.
  • Ensure all Build Quality procedures are implemented and all procedures are adhered to at all times.
  • Actively support any new part installations and prefits.
  • Provide support to all Engine System related HPP projects.
  • Assist in mock up fuel system and engine chassis installations.
  • Provide support to Special Events as required.
  • Assist in the ECN process with the Engine Systems Team Leader.
  • Ensure that the Engine and Fuel system workshops are maintained in a clean and tidy condition.
  • Follow all company Health and Safety policies.
  • Attend training courses as required.

Candidate Profile:

  • Mechanical experience in F1 required.
  • Good knowledge of quality systems.
  • Strong computer skills.
  • SAP experience.

Composite Build Manager (Ref REQ-064)

Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Composite Build Manager with our operations team. The area is responsible for the final assembly and functional checks on the key composite assemblies that form the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One car such as front and rear wings, noses, floors and bodywork. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the desired composite parts are built to the correct configuration and delivered to the race events on time and to the correct quality/quantity.

The Role:

  • Lead the Composite Build team, coordinating day-to-day activities related to final assembly and pre-fit of bodywork, floors, wing & noses.
  • Generate bodywork & wing build plans for race events ensuring that planned parts are delivered on time and to the desired quality/quantity.
  • Plan and coordinate the supply of composite assemblies, interfacing with composite manufacturing, testing and paint to ensure delivery to race events.
  • Liaise between the race team and the factory teams to ensure that desired part quantities are available for race event and that damage/quarantine/shortage lists are actioned.
  • Coordinate the freight of composite part supply to race events and any turnaround freight for servicing.
  • Manage delivery of new parts and implement any engineering change notes on composite assemblies. Ensure the new parts list for race events is updated with status information.
     

Candidate Profile for this role:

Good planning and communication skills are key in addition to being computer literate.  You should have knowledge of assembly of composite structures for F1 cars such as wings, floors and body-work. A new vacancy has arisen for a Tooling Stores Person reporting to the Machine Shop CAM Team Leader.

The successful candidate will coordinate the Tooling and Gauges within the Main Machine Shop.

Key Accountabilities/Duties include:

  • Distributing cutting tools, holders and gauges to the Machine Shop on request.
  • Replenishing used tooling, holders and gauges to maintain accurate stock levels.
  • Maintaining accurate calibration of Machine Shop measuring equipment and database.
  • Raising requisitions for Machine Shop equipment.
  • Build and supply cutting tool assemblies to the Machine Shop.
  • Deputise and support other Production Support activities as required.

Candidate Profile:

The successful applicant will have a process mind-set and ideally have a background in manufacturing, preferably in a machine shop environment. You will be a confident Microsoft Office user, with experience of manufacturing specific (ERP) software being highly desirable. A Vacancy has arisen for an Inspector within the Car Build function.

You will be responsible for the efficient inspection and verification of components, to ensure adherence to specification, in accordance with defined procedures and priorities.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Use of inspection equipment to ensure dimensional, mechanical and visual characteristics of each component adhere to drawing specifications.
  • Strict adherence to drawings, operating procedures and work instructions to ensure zero defect.
  • Must be able to program CMM using PCDMIS, both on-line and off-line.
  • Flexible working with the Manager enabling time-efficient inspection to achieve defined priorities and due dates.
  • Working within defined Health and Safety guidelines.
  • Careful component handling and packaging to prevent component to component and transit damage.
  • Clear component labelling to identify status.
  • Timely and accurate booking and recording on our Manufacturing Systems.
  • Identification of any non-conforming components and writing of non-conformance reports (NCR). This includes liaison with authorising Design personnel to determine disposition of components and necessary action to be taken, concluding in a timely manner.

The successful candidate for this role will be able to incorporate appropriate elements of the ITIL service framework into enabling continual improvements to the user experience. They will also be responsible for delivering a high-quality Desktop Support to the business enabling efficient and effective use of a wide range of IT services.

Key accountabilities / duties include:

  • Aiding customers in a professional manner following agreed procedures for further help or escalation of requests and acting as a single point of contact for customer queries
  • Investigating causes of incidents and seeking resolution, analysing complex problem situations to determine underlying causes and helping customers to recover or continue operation.
