Job Description

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technical Architect to join the IT team at a time of significant and exciting change.

The Technical Architect role will be responsible for architecting change to the IT service offerings of Mercedes AMG PETRONAS supporting business requirements, promoting efficiency through effective implementation and use of IT systems, software and services.

Key Accountabilities:

The successful candidate will be responsible for the design and development of the IT infrastructure ensuring the correct architecture and technology building blocks are in place to underpin the team’s needs. They will have the following accountabilities in these areas;

  • Work closely with key stakeholders and the other Enterprise Architecture team members.

  • Lead research, evaluation, and selection of technology to underpin the designed future state of the IT infrastructure.

  • Define and be accountable for the IT Technology roadmaps that are needed to achieve the Team’s goals.

  • Assist with the development of the Technical Architecture function including process and standards.

  • Produce infrastructure architecture designs, standards, building blocks and patterns across the entire technology and service offering ensuring reusability wherever possible.

  • Drive digital innovation through new technologies and approaches to improve and transform the existing IT infrastructure.

  • Participate in the IT Demand process to maintaining an accurate forecast of the technology projects and plans.

  • Coach, mentor and collaborate with other members of the department and wider team.

  • Champion modern technology practices such as Everything as Code and DevOps across the team.

Candidate Profile:

  • Experience working in a comparable role.

  • Practical knowledge of the TOGAF framework.

  • Be able to interact with all levels of the organisation presenting technical information in an appropriate way.

  • Ability to balance the long-term (big picture) and short-term implications of individual decisions.

  • Demonstrate and foster a collaborative team approach empowering everyone to succeed and develop.

  • A practical individual who is also comfortable working independently and managing their time to deliver against objectives.

  • Experience of working in a fast-paced environment with continual demands and changing priorities.

  • Strong, confident, self-motivated and willing to take ownership and accountability for the current and future IT infrastructure architecture.

  • Used to working within frameworks including ITIL, TOGAF, Prince2.

  • Demonstrable documentation skills including HLD, LLD, roadmap, blueprints, technology building blocks.

Skills:

  • Excellent interpersonal skills in areas such as teamwork, facilitation and negotiation.

  • Strong leadership skills including the ability to present technology concepts to senior business stakeholders.

  • Knowledge of many, if not most, aspects of an enterprise technology architecture.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

  • Excellent planning and organisational skills.

  • Knowledge of key technologies including Active Directory, Azure AD, virtualization, containerization, VDI.

  • Knowledge of modern infrastructure practices such as building CI/CD pipelines and building agile, adaptive infrastructure platforms.

  • Project Management including waterfall and agile based approaches.
