The purpose of the tyre modelling and simulation engineer is to support the tyre related activities for our customer projects within the Performance Department. This role will ensure an excellent service to our customers by utilising F1 inspired tyre technical expertise and its latest methodologies of modelling and simulation, data analysis and direct tyre characterisation testing.
To develop, implement and use the most appropriate tyre physics and tyre modelling techniques to support customer project development.
To identify the most efficient way to answer our customers questions when considering the time, cost and technical constraints.
To propose and develop new performance concepts that deliver a performance differentiator to our customers.
To contribute to the continuous development of the simulation and modelling tools and measurement capabilities to improve the team’s ability to support the customers and to capitalise on the learning made on projects.
Strong academic background with a Mechanical, Aeronautical, Engineering Degree (2:1 minimum grade) or equivalent.
Experience of tyre modelling and tyre characterisation.
Experience with simulation and modelling tasks in vehicle dynamics or in an equivalent high-level engineering industry.
Appreciation of optimisation problems, vehicle dynamics, aerodynamics and thermodynamics theory.
Ability to report and communicate complex data in a concise manner to a range of diverse stakeholders.
Experience using Matlab and Dymola.
Ability to work in interdisciplinary teams to tight deadlines, within budget and under minimal supervision.
Highly motivated and focused self-starter with excellent communication skills.

An exciting position has become available in the applied sciences team for a new Simulation and Modelling Engineer. This position will report to the Lead Simulation and Modelling Engineer, and will work on exciting customer projects.
We are looking for pragmatic engineers with the appropriate mathematical, modelling and vehicle dynamics skills along with the ability to write quality code towards the development of our simulations in the desired environments.
Key accountabilities / duties include:
Develop and maintain physics models, sub-models and simulations to continuously meet the requirements of customer toolsets.
Ensure on-going validation and correlation of models to track and rig data to ensure robust validity of simulation results.
Research and use appropriate technologies to ensure the continuous development of our models and simulation tools to meet the engineering requirements of our customers.
Interact across the entire Team to provide tools and solutions to support objective technical decision making.

A mechanical or aeronautical engineering degree (preferably Masters) from a leading university or similar qualification is essential, but your skills, experience, ability to learn, energy and attitude are most important.
Excellent grounding in mechanics and in engineering numerical methods. Experience in non-linear programming techniques and optimal control will be considered beneficial.
Conversant with engineering software tools and object-oriented coding languages.
Excellent communicative and collaborative skills are essential.

You’ll deliver on key projects to continuously develop more comprehensive insights of our car, driving our race performance. Partnering with key areas of the business, you’ll enhance existing tools and systems, deliver exciting new projects and manage internal customer experience. Key projects include developing our Driver in the Loop real time simulator, our HPC infrastructure and our data capture and analysis systems.

Who you are:
Degree in Computer Science (or similar), or relevant experience.
Experience working in high performing self-organising teams, delivering solutions to complex problems.
Excellent communication skills and experience working with a strong customer focus.
Experience using XP practices such as paired programming, TDD and CI / CD.
Experience delivering software within a devops culture.
Significant experience of at least one programming language, ideally C#, and strong knowledge of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP).
Extensive knowledge of the full Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
Excellent communication skills and experience managing key stakeholder relationships.
Able to create and nurture a culture of problem solvers eager to tackle new challenges.
