Job Description

A vacancy has arisen for a Build Systems Technician reporting to the Engine Systems Team Leader.

The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring all Engine Systems assemblies are prepared to the highest standards by utilising all the correct quality build procedures.

Key Accountabilities / Duties include:

  • Working with the Engine Systems Team Leaders, ensure all build procedures and workshop standards are adhered to. Support any rig testing required on completed assemblies prior to the components being issued to the cars.
  • Assist with the running of the workshop and working with the Race Team Engine Dressers on a day to day basis when at the factory.
  • Actively work on all aspects of engine dressing and the fuel system including the sub assembly of all the engine and ERS cooling systems.

Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Composite Build Manager with our operations team. The area is responsible for the final assembly and functional checks on the key composite assemblies that form the Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One car such as front and rear wings, noses, floors and bodywork. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the desired composite parts are built to the correct configuration and delivered to the race events on time and to the correct quality/quantity.

The Role:

  • Lead the Composite Build team, coordinating day-to-day activities related to final assembly and pre-fit of bodywork, floors, wing & noses.
  • Generate bodywork & wing build plans for race events ensuring that planned parts are delivered on time and to the desired quality/quantity.
  • Plan and coordinate the supply of composite assemblies, interfacing with composite manufacturing, testing and paint to ensure delivery to race events.
  • Liaise between the race team and the factory teams to ensure that desired part quantities are available for race event and that damage/quarantine/shortage lists are actioned.
  • Coordinate the freight of composite part supply to race events and any turnaround freight for servicing.

A fantastic opportunity has become available in our Digital Engineering Transformation Department for an Industrial Placement Student interested in process automation design and development.

Reporting to one of the Business Process Engineers within the Engineering Process Management Team, the successful candidate will take the lead in the development of the team’s Robotic Process Automation capability. By leveraging their technical background and using an analytical approach, they will identify and assess opportunities for efficiency improvements throughout the team and implement automation solutions which are compatible with the Digital Engineering Transformation Department’s long-term strategic objectives.
 

Key accountabilities / duties include but are not limited to:

  • Identifying automation opportunities to save time and money throughout the team, focusing on the Engineering and Operational areas in particular
  • Supporting the Engineering Process Management Team in critically assessing the suitability of automation tools to support business requests 
  • Developing high quality, production ready software solutions to implement automation throughout the team in a robust, efficient manner
  • Maintaining the Engineering Process Management Team’s current suite of automation tools and supporting Business Users using them
  • Working closely with IT to manage and improve our automation infrastructure and governance

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate must have:

  • Currently studying a for a degree in an Engineering or Technical discipline (2:1 minimum grade)
  • A keen interest in automation and its application in a business environment
  • Experience in programming (including scripting/ coding) – a high level of proficiency in at least one scripting language
  • Experience working on process improvements and optimisations
  • Additional Qualifications in programming or Robotic Process Automation software would be beneficial

Flexibility in hours and approach is required, along with a ‘can do’, ‘team playing’ attitude. Good verbal and written communication skills are very important.

  • Act as a single point of contact for phone calls and emails from employees regarding IT issues and queries.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Desktop Support Analyst to join the IT Service Team, reporting into the IT Service Desk Team Leader. The successful candidate for this role will be able to incorporate appropriate elements of the ITIL service framework into enabling continual improvements to the user experience. They will also be responsible for delivering a high-quality Desktop Support to the business enabling efficient and effective use of a wide range of IT services.

Key accountabilities / duties include:

  • Aiding customers in a professional manner following agreed procedures for further help or escalation of requests and acting as a single point of contact for customer queries
  • Investigating causes of incidents and seeking resolution, analysing complex problem situations to determine underlying causes and helping customers to recover or continue operation.
  • Ensure support desk queries are actioned as per service level agreements, kept up to date and communicated to the customer at all times.
  • Carry out routine monitoring and reporting tasks against CSFs and KPIs.

Job Description

We have an exciting opportunity in our Dyno department for a Dyno Test Engineer to join the team. Reporting directly to the Head of Dyno Groups, you will be the Senior Engineer on shift, akin to a Race Engineer at the Track, for Dyno tests. You will ultimately be responsible for liaising with design and race engineers for the implementation of test requests into the test programme.

 

Key accountabilities / duties include but are not limited to:

  • Liaison with design and performance engineers for the implementation of test requests into the programme.
  • Publication of event documentation – test items, run plans, job lists etc. to ensure timely preparation and smooth operation of tests.
  • Daily and post event reporting of test results.
  • In depth data analysis and the development of software tools (Matlab, Excel, etc.) for engine, transmission, hydraulic, braking, heat rejection, and control systems
  • Reporting and investigation of faults as well as implementing countermeasures for dyno issues.
  • Programming of Dyno based control systems using PUMA, Matlab, Simulink, dSPACE, and Visual Basic.
  • Creating and maintaining test profiles and ensuring their continual validation against the track.
  • Contributing to the continual development of the facility in terms of its capability and validation.

Candidate Profile:

The successful candidate must:

  • Have a strong engineering degree (2.1 minimum grade).
  • Have a minimum of 2 years' experience in a top level motorsport test or trackside environment.
  • Have previous programming experience (Matlab / VBA).
  • Have good practical knowledge of gearbox / hydraulics / engine / braking systems.
  • Be highly motivated, able to make decisions within a pressurised environment.
